Crofton supports Bromley Borough Foodbank, a project founded by local churches and community groups working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. It is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks supported by the Trussell Trust.
The Foodbank helps when there is a crisis which leaves people without money for food, for example
-
When benefits are delayed
-
When people are suddenly without work
-
On a low income/sickness
Foodbank
-
Collects non-perishable food donated by local people
-
Sorts food and stores it at the centres
-
Gives vouchers to organisations such as doctor’s surgeries, CAB, health visitors, social workers and school support workers who give the vouchers to people in need.
-
Gives 3 days or more worth of nutritionally balanced food when the voucher is taken to a foodbank centre by the client (see Bromley Borough Foodbank website for centres and opening times).
-
Aims to offer a listening ear, a cup of tea or coffee and signposting to organisations able to offer further help.
